Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMA)
Loughborough University won the Departmental ICT Initiative of the Year Award at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards on June 17th 2014, held in association with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. Melanie King, Head of CEDE, Paul Newman (CEDE) and Ann Cage (AACME) were pleased to accept the award on behalf of the team.
Developed by CEDE, the winning initiative employed ICT to transform the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering’s (AACME) student placement processes. The project involved significant developments to the in-house Co-Tutor system to support the administration of placements and the tutor / student interactions during the placement year.
“In a strong field, Loughborough’s entry stood out as best meeting the brief and demonstrating impressive results,” said Martyn Harrow, chief executive of the higher education technology consortium Jisc and a member of the judging panel.
“The judges particularly recognised the imaginative yet highly systematic approach to collaboration between staff, students and developers that drove the success.”
